An Ezidi soldier called Nuri al-Silemani who served in the Iraqi Army was shot dead on Wednesday by an unknown sniper. The Iraqi military stated that al-Silemani was gunned down in the open street while doing his service. Al-Silemani was an Ezidi from the region of Shingal, located in the northwest of Iraq. In the meanwhile his body was handed over to the forensics by local security forces.

For several months fierce clashes between the Iraqi Army and radical Islamic terrorists are taking place in the middle of Mosul. Especially terrorists of the so called Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, an  al-Qaeda splinter group, are trying to destabilize the region all around Mosul. For minorities such as Ezidis and Shabaks Mosul has become a no-go area after it has been increasingly targeted by terrorist groups.
